The Kut Signs US Deal - Releases 'ANIMO'

British solo artist The Kut (PhD) has announced a US distribution deal with Amplified (Alliance / AMPED / MNRK), for her hotly anticipated second album and released an empowering video single in ANIMO.

Los Angeles, California Nov 15, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - British solo artist The Kut (Ph.D.) has announced a US distribution deal with Amplified (Alliance / AMPED / MNRK) for her hotly anticipated second album and released a brand new video single, ANIMO.

The US deal, which also signed The Kut's Criminal Records label, brings them into an impressive US roster including Kobalt, Death Row, Pias, Epitaph, Chrysalis, Nuclear Blast, Papa Roach, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Larkin Poe, Blink 182, Frank Turner and Die Antwoord.

Mike Donohue, CEO of Amplified Distribution, discussed the mass signing, stating "They are bands that deserve to be heard here in America. Amplified looks forward to this partnership and we are excited about the next level artists Criminal plans to bring to us."

Her first release since the deal 'ANIMO' (meaning 'courage' or 'spirit) and accompanying music video have been funded by Arts Council England. The song itself was written in solidarity with recent women's rights discussions in the UK and is pepper-sprayed with haunting melodies, driving beats, and unapologetically packed with girl power. The music video is directed by Mike Gripz of Smith Town Studios (Skepta, Boy Better Know, Etta Bond) and features 4 of 7 members of The Kut collective of women in music. 

Kut's debut album 'Valley of Thorns' was produced by James LeRock Loughrey (Skindred, White Zombie, Bjork) and spent two weeks in the UK Rock Albums Chart (No.7) and No.18 in the Independent Albums Chart. Christmas single 'Waiting for Christmas' reached No.65 in the UK Sales Chart on Christmas Day 2020 and spent four weeks in the Physical Chart, reaching No.10. Dubbed by NYC Takeover as 'the revolution waiting to erupt' The Kut releases spawned significant interest in the US, with videos selected by MTV USA, MTV-U, LATV, AXSTV & Music Choice.

With tours in eight countries and performances at Download, Rebellion, Camden Rocks, and BBC Introducing Stages, The Kut returned to live post-lockdown, headlining the River Stage at Isle of Wight Festival. Announcing the deal at a London press conference, The Kut stated "it's a total dream come true to sign to such a forward-thinking company as Amplified.
