KCMJ Radio Host Fundraiser for Mother’s Advocating Cannabis to Treat Autism

Mothers Advocating Medical Marijuana for Autism (MAMMA) invites the community to attend a fundraiser on August 19th, 2017 at KCMJ Radio 93.9 FM, 315 E. Costilla Street, Colorado Springs, CO.

“Healing Autism with Cannabis” takes place on Saturday 19th August. This event will feature an evening of education, Q&A, networking, and hemp-based catering.

5:30 pm: doors open, networking. 6:00 pm: keynote speakers, MAMMA, mothers speak about trials and triumphs with autism. 6:45 pm: keynote speakers, Dan Brandt, UBIX Processing labs, “Science of CBD, THC and Human Body.” 7:30 pm: Q&A, networking. Catering: hemp-based drinks and finger food provided by Original Hemp Cafe.

“After trying all recommended medical options, we moved to Colorado to seek alternative treatments and found the results encouraging and hope to help parents that suffer daily raising non-verbal children with autism.” states Margaret Rose, Director of Research Operations.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at 1 in 68 children. The total costs per year for children with ASD in the United States were estimated to be between $11.5 billion – $60.9 billion (2011 US dollars).

MAMMA began in Texas and is now working to expand in Colorado to help raise awareness and find functional treatments for children with autism.

“When all other treatments failed our son, migrating to Colorado seemed to be the last option. Safe and legal access to medical cannabis has not only greatly improved the quality of our son’s life, but it has saved his life as well. All children with autism deserve a chance at life, and medical cannabis can be the key to unlocking that door.” testified Michelle Walker, Director of State Chapters, MAMMA.

KCMJ Radio show host, KC Stark adds “Autism is a devastating and misunderstood condition. Cannabis Community Radio is honored to be able to host an event that helps raise autism treatment awareness.”

Cost: free. Recommended donations are $10 pp or $100 per organization. Funds raised will be used to support KCMJ Radio 93.9 FM and Mothers Advocating Medical Marijuana for Autism.
