Building off the Grid is casting unique residential builds featuring sustainable technology and appealing remote locations throughout the US. Are you or someone you know building a house that has remote access? Innovative design? Sustainable solutions to comfortable living? We want to hear from you! Our casting process is expediting projects through to feature for 2019 programming. Looking in all 50 states, this series will feature multiple projects across the country.

Home and Garden Television and DIY Network are known for their magazine style show, docu-reality entertainment and appeal to broad demographics. Do it Yourself Network inspires viewers to take on that weekend project and gives them the knowledge to be successful in their endeavors.

The Building off the Grid show has been in production for several years and is a hit due to the inspiring nature of the content. HGTV is a subsidiary of Discovery, Inc and shares programming across multiple platforms. This show is produced by Toronto based production house Our House Media. The episodes begin setting up the site and the challenges of building in this location. From the foundation to the finishing touches, the camera crew comes back multiple times to capture how the build is achieved. “It is so impressive to see the crew problem solve on the fly without the ability to run to a big box store or bring in heavy equipment. We have featured builds where you horse back in, travel by float plane, or have to bring in every piece of lumber by ATV. The location is as strong of a character as the builders themselves,” says Jennifer Jordon, senior producer for the series.

The show is a great opportunity for builders and clients to feature how they take on the challenges of living in inaccessible locations. Often times the luxury homes in the end mirror all the comforts of urban housing yet have a true get away feel.

The show has filmed in Alaska, Colorado, Montana, California, Hawaii, British Columbia and countless other locations across the United States.

This series highlights the architect, design, and build team behind unique homes going up across the country. Each 1 hour special follows a build from the ground up ending with a climatic reveal showcasing the execution of each project. We showcase sustainable features and show viewers how to incorporate off grid living into their lifestyle.
