Data Recovery Services Experts Shares Tips On Improving Computer Performance

December 03, 2019 - /PressAdvantage/ - Irvine, CA based Hard Drive Recovery Associates (HDRA) recently added a post to their informative blog on the subject of computer performance. They are specialists in hard drive recovery services and storage.

As they pointed out in their previous release, maintaining good back-up practices and storing data in an organized manner can help minimize the catastrophic effects of data loss, should a computer or other device fail. As such, their new blog post takes a look at another day-to-day issue with using a computer, tablet or other device on a regular basis, which is that of dealing with a slowing or sluggishly performing computer.

A slow computer can be annoying and cause problems for the user, but it can also have implications for the machine itself as well as the safety of data it contains. They say, “The truth is, a lot of things can cause your computer to slow down. Your storage may be almost full if it isn’t already, you have viruses and other malware lying around, you may have a long list of search history, or you simply have a slow internet connection. These are just some of the many things that have been keeping your computer from performing at its fastest.”

There are many advantages to keeping devices clean and clutter free. The company advises that users clean up their desktop by removing programs they no longer use, especially those that will be loaded at start-up (as these can slow a computer right down). Also they should consider getting rid of or moving files that they rarely use, such as vacation photos, old videos, and so on. These items could be transferred to back-up storage, freeing up space on the device, or even deleted entirely.

This is also part of keeping data safe and well managed, the blog explains. Users should also consider defragging the hard drive to consolidate free space. This allows data belonging to one program or file to be more easily stored together and so the computer can access it more quickly. Learn more online at their site.

Another issue raised that can cause slow performance or cause machine crashes involves viruses. The blog points out that, “Windows systems are more susceptible to viruses and malware than Mac systems. Users should always use a good anti-malware or virus program and regularly scan the computer for viruses, to ensure that there are none lurking in the system memory, clogging up resources, and slowing the machine.”

There are other actions users can take to speed up their computer and keep it free of problems. They may, for instance, want to exert some more granular control on their desktop’s visual, as some of the fancy transparency effects and animated menus can eat into memory space. Users who do not care for these effects will be pleased to learn that they can be switched off.

Having considered the cyber-cleaning, it is also a good idea to consider physical cleaning of the hardware. Vents can clog and fans can be slowed by dust and dirt; a machine with fans straining against these obstructions may be forced to work in overdrive just to function normally.

If all else fails, computer users could consider reinstalling the Operating System (OS), but this is a large and irreversible process. Notably, all files and programs should be properly backed-up before such an operation is carried out as the system will often be wiped prior to a fresh install being made. The blog post emphasizes that, “This action is permanent. There’s just no undo button.”

Jack Edwards, a spokesperson for HDRA, says, “Keeping your PC or laptop running smoothly is key to minimising data loss from device failures.” He invites all interested parties to visit the company's Twitter page to stay up to date with new posts. Sterling Ferguson, a customer who engaged HDRA’s services, says that he received, “Truly outstanding service from a really great company! Dec 9, 2019

NEW YORK — Next year's Met Gala may be the closest we'll ever come to getting a Miranda Priestly moment at the starry event. Meryl Streep has been named as a co-chair of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Wintour clearly has no hard feelings because she selected Streep as a co-chair along with Lin-Manuel Miranda and fellow Oscar-winner Emma Stone. Designer Nicolas Ghesquiere rounds out the group. The gala's theme is "About Time: Fashion and Duration," which...
